John 10:10, “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”
“Life is not a solo sport.”
If you’ve ever watched an award show on television, then you’re familiar with the typical acceptance speech. The winner stands on stage and recites a list of names, people who have helped them get where they are. From parents to friends to professional counterparts, actors and actresses shower thanks on those who helped them along the way.
But when it comes to life, how many of us have an “I’ve got it” mentality? We find ourselves in a situation and, for whatever reason, we refuse to ask for help, convincing ourselves that we can handle it all by ourselves.
The “I’ve got it” mentality is one we all have at times. But that sort of life is suffocating. Because so often, when we say, “I’ve got it,” the reality is that the “it” has a grip on us. Rather than pretending we can handle life on our own, we need to admit to God that we need His direction. After all, there’s no better place to turn for advice in life than the One who created it!
Admitting we can’t handle something is never easy. But when we do, we find ourselves in the perfect position. Are you facing something right now where you know you need help? Reach out to a friend and ask them for help!
Dear God, so often in life I pretend to have it all together, as if I can handle anything that comes my way. But the truth is, I need You. Guide my every decision and action so I can get the most out of the life You have given me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
