The greatest sacrifice

Read

Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.” When he had said this, he breathed his last. Luke 23:46

Think

Good Friday is a day when we remember the greatest sacrifice ever made – the sacrifice Jesus Christ made on the cross for the sins of the world. It is a sacrifice that secured eternity and paved a way for a relationship with God, something we could never do on our own. On this day, thousands of years ago, Jesus paid a debt He didn’t owe because we had a debt we could never pay.

Today, remember that sacrifice. But keep something else in mind, something even more powerful. In just a few days we remember the greatest event in history, the resurrection of Jesus Christ!

This weekend is a celebration of hope, opportunity, and potential. Don’t just let this time be a time that you look back. Instead, use this weekend as a time to look forward to all God has in store for you in your relationship with Jesus, and help others come to know what that relationship is all about!

Pray

Thank God for the fact that He made the ultimate sacrifice for you.

Act

Use this weekend as a chance to invite others to experience the love, power, and mercy of Jesus. Invite them to join you tonight for “Good Friday in the Park” and to be with you this weekend at Fellowship Church!

Something HAS to be said

Read

“Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!” Luke 19:38

Think

Sometimes, something just HAS to be said. Maybe you see someone wearing a crazy outfit. Maybe your children are acting completely out of character. Maybe something on television gets your blood pumping. It is in those moments that you just HAVE to say something.

When it comes to the Christian life, something HAS to be said. When we are followers of Christ, we don’t have a choice but to speak out in praise. Why? Because we’ve been overwhelmed by the grace, love, and mercy of our eternal Father. When something like that happens, you can’t stay quiet. Are you saying what needs to be said to point others to Jesus? If you’ve been radically rescued, you should be!

Pray

Thank God for what He has done in your life. Pray for the words to say and the opportunities to say them so that you can point others in your life to God.

Act

Make your life COMPLETE WITH PRAISE. Do an audit of the words you say. Ask yourself if they communicate the truth of what God has done in your life.

Cry out!

Read

“When He came near the place where the road goes down the Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of disciples began joyfully to praise God in loud voices for all the miracles they had seen: ‘Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!’” Luke 19:37-38

Think

God created us with emotion, with a voice, and with the desire to cry out when things are going great. Think about it. When your team wins, what do you do? Cry out! When you sink the long putt, close the big deal, or ace the semester exam, what do you do? Cry out! We are made to cry out. We are made to respond. But as good as those other things are, there is only ONE thing that deserves our full praise and our full joy – Jesus Christ.

When you think about what God has done in your life, it should cause you to cry out! You should be constantly looking for ways to praise God and share the great news about what He has done in your life. It’s not just about the circumstances you find yourself in right now. It’s about the eternal joy and forgiveness that leads to a life of outrageous, contagious joy in the life of every believer. Are you sharing that joy with those around you? Are you “crying out” like the crowd did that Palm Sunday?

Pray

Ask God boldly for opportunities THIS WEEK to share His love with others in your life. As Easter approaches, pray for the discernment you need to see those in your life who need a relationship with God.

Act

CRY OUT on social media. Use whatever platform you have to spread the news about what God is doing at Fellowship Church as we approach Easter!

Play your role.

Read

“I tell you,” He replied, “if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.” Luke 19:40

Think

Palm Sunday was a day of celebration in the city of Jerusalem. When Jesus rode in on the back of a donkey, the crowd shouted with joy and cheered for the coming Savior. But in every crowd, there will always be naysayers. There will always be those few (who end up sounding like everyone) who will jeer instead of cheer.

When the few (the Pharisees) began to jeer and tell Jesus to quiet His followers, He said something interesting. “If they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.” But stones aren’t made to cry out in praise for God. We are! Don’t let a rock take your role. Use your voice, your life to praise God for who He is and what He has done in your life!

Pray

Thank God for giving you the ability to “cry out” in praise of Him. Thank Him for all He has done in your life. And pray for the opportunities to point others to Him.

Act

Post this on your social media today. “I won’t let a ROCK take my ROLE!” Pray this sparks curiosity in your circle of influence so you have a chance to talk about what this phrase means!
