"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Philippians 4˸13

Think

Those of us who are Christ followers should be the most confident people on earth. We should have the greatest amount of swagger out there! Why? Because we have the ability to tap into the greatest power there is. We are swimming with the Savior!

Swagger is simply your flow, your vibe, how you present yourself to the world. It’s not about being cocky or condescending or arrogant. It’s about understanding who we are and whose we are. It’s about recognizing the reality that we are God’s children, empowered by His Son. And when we are swimming with Jesus and surrounding ourselves with other believers who have our back when things get tough, we can swim with true confidence and swagger through every situation we face.

Pray

Thank God for empowering you with the strength of His Son, Jesus Christ. Ask Him to use you to display that confidence to the world and show others what it truly means to swim with the Savior.

Act

Today, make it a point to walk with your head a little higher, with a spring in your step. If someone asks you what is different, read them today’s verse. And use the conversation as a platform to share what God is doing in your life.

“All Scripture is God-breathed…” 2 Timothy 3˸16

Think

Any SCUBA diver will tell you that the regulator is one of the most crucial pieces of equipment for any dive. Without it, you can’t breathe underwater. And if you are unable to breathe underwater, your diving excursion will not go well, to put it lightly.

In life, God has equipped us all with a  ‘regulator’. It’s called the Bible. As we read today, every word of the Bible has God’s breath in it. And with God’s breath comes life.

Are you regularly experiencing the breath of God by reading His Word? Or are you trying to swim through life, holding your breath and hoping to get by?

Pray

Thank God for breathing His life into the words of Scripture and for providing that breath to us. Ask Him for the discipline and focus to regularly rely on that breath to help you do life.

Act

Make it a priority to read more of the Bible. Each day, in addition to reading the verse(s) in these devotionals, commit to reading the entire chapter.

Read

“And Elisha prayed, ‘O LORD, open his eyes so he may see.’ Then the LORD opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.” 2 Kings 6˸17

Think

When you SCUBA dive, there are times when your mask will get foggy. When we do life, our masks can get fogged up with any number of things – greed, lust, or anger, just to name a few. Those things keep us from seeing clearly all that God has for us. And if we don’t clear our mask, we’ll be in trouble!

The reality is, though, that we cannot clear our own mask. We don’t have what it takes. But the great news is that Jesus has cleared our mask for us! We have to simply trust Him and His power through our lives, and we can see clearly and discover the right path.

Pray

Thank God for the gift of grace He has provided to you through His Son, Jesus Christ. Ask Him to help you continue seeing clearly, and avoid the foggy mess of sin in your life.

Act

For a clear picture of seeing life from God’s perspective, read 2 Kings 6˸8-23.

Read

“Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another - and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” Hebrews 10˸25

Think

Jesus dealt with sharks every day, and He knew what it took to negotiate the giant packs of predators that circled him. Now, He passes that knowledge on to us through His own pre-dive safety talk, because the reality is that we all swim with sharks.

When we realize that life isn’t a solo sport and surround ourselves with other believers, we find ourselves empowered and able to survive those inevitable shark attacks. It’s all about getting in the right environment for a pre-dive safety talk – the local church.

Are you regularly getting that talk? Or are you trying to negotiate the waters of life alone, leaving yourself vulnerable to the attacks from the sharks of the world?

Pray

Thank God for providing an environment in your life where you can surround yourself with others who can help you succeed.

Read

“I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves.” Matthew 10˸16

Think

When Jesus sent his disciples out into the world, he didn’t pull any punches. He let them know they would be facing difficulties. He told them they would be facing wolves. He could have told them they would be swimming with sharks. But He also gave them the ability and the skills it would take to survive that swim.

We all swim with sharks in life. Maybe they’re people who question and ridicule your faith. Perhaps they try to drag you down and get you off God’s plan. The reality is that we live in a difficult world. The good news is that Christ can equip us with what it takes to survive that swim.

Pray

Let God know when you are facing a difficult situation. Ask Him for the strength to face the situation and the ability to set an example to those around you of what true faith really can do.

Act

Don’t try to face the sharks in your life alone. Instead get plugged into Men of the House, Flavour  or The Mix, and establish relationships with those who can help you thrive the swim of your life!
