From Series: Call Me Wealthy
I Timothy 6:18, "Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share".
John 3:16, "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, so that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life".
Imagine if we only had what we thanked God for. We can't! It's unfathomable to even scratch the surface of just how generous our great God really is. No one can out give God, because He is the very essence of generosity. Our entire faith is founded upon the fact that He sent His only Son to die a terrible death for us to receive an eternal inheritance in heaven. In today's verse, Paul is instructing Timothy to not only encourage generosity, but to command it. So, as Christ followers striving to emulate Him in every way, generosity should always be in our hearts and minds, because it's not just something we do, it's a way of life.
The late great evangelist, Charles Spurgeon, said, "Giving is true having". What a wonderful thought as we kick off the Christmas season. Everyone—believers and non-believers alike—is far more generous at this time of year. So as we approach the celebration of our Savior's birth, let us consider giving above and beyond by serving, sharing, and sowing into the only thing Jesus ever built—the local church. And remember, God loves a cheerful giver.
Thank God for things you might usually forget to thank Him for. Then ask Him to place on your heart a specific act of generosity.
Tis the season to be jolly, and there's no greater way to make your spirit bright than by serving others! If you have yet to get connected by serving in the house click here: https://fellowshipchurch.com/volunteer/
