Matthew 1:18, “This is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit.”
Many times we look at people who seem to “have it all” and think to ourselves, “Must be nice! I wish I could be that lucky.” But chances are, that although they seemingly ‘have it all’, they too have been lobbed with lemons. You see, we are all in one of two camps: those soon to be lobbed and those currently under fire. The lemonade in their lives is present after “the squeeze”. A perfect example takes us back to the first Christmas. Just imagine what Mary must have felt as she told her parents, “I’ve conceived a child through the Holy Spirit—and guess what! You’re going to be grandparents! Within her culture, we know she must have endured embarrassment from people who didn’t understand. Although she trusted God, her experiences leading up to Jesus’ birth were pretty sour. Yet from this “lemon” God made THE MOST AMAZING lemonade in history.
Don’t be distracted by the lemonade in the lives of others. When we remain focused on God during the bitterness of life, we are open to being used for something far greater than ourselves. And if we stay the course, we will taste supernaturally sweetened lemonade on a ‘holy notha’ level!
Father God, Thank You in advance for turning my lemons into Your lemonade. Help me to not compare myself with others and to remain focused on the path You’ve set before me. I love You! In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Memorize Psalm 34:8, “Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in Him”.
