Read

“…Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’  38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” – Matthew 22:37-39

Think

Jesus is amazing at simplifying the complex.  When the religious leaders asked Jesus what commandment was the greatest, it was meant to be a test – a complex question.  After all, there were hundreds of laws.  But Jesus simplified all of the laws by telling them to love God and love your neighbor.  And as simple as that is, we still try to make it complex.  But there is a really simple way to show your love for God and your neighbor at the same time – serving.
God has given us so many unique gifts and abilities.  We have the opportunity to use those gifts to show our love for God and our neighbor by using them to promote His kingdom in His house.  Here are just a few advantages of serving:

  1. It takes the focus off of ourselves.
  2. We can develop our gifts here.
  3. We can be a part of the only institution God created.
  4. It's fun.
  5. You meet a bunch of people.
Take the opportunity to use your gifts to share God’s love.

Pray

Thank God for the gifts He has given you.  Ask Him to help you use them to glorify Him.
