Take Hold of the Rope

Read

Joshua 6:25, “But Joshua spared Rahab the prostitute, with her family and all who belonged to her, because she hid the men Joshua had sent as spies to Jericho—and she lives among the Israelites to this day.”

Think

Like many stories throughout the Bible, Rahab's is one of redemption and forgiveness. She literally moved from the whore house to God's house! It wasn't by chance or circumstance or luck. Rahab was pursued by God because God had a purpose for her life.

What do any of us have to do with Rahab? More than we might think! The truth is that God has a purpose for your life. He is pursuing you. And not matter where you are, what you've done, or who you thought you were, God always has redemption in mind for you. It's all about the red rope of redemption. Have you taken hold of that rope? Because hope is in that rope!

Pray

Thank God for pursuing you passionately. Pray for the strength you need to turn from whatever you may be involved in and the humility to take hold of His red rope of redemption.

Act

Evidence Always Demands a Verdict

Read

Joshua 2:11, “When we heard of it, our hearts melted in fear and everyone’s courage failed because of you, for the Lord your God is God in heaven above and on the earth below.”

Think

In any court of law, evidence is a crucial aspect of the proceedings. Evidence is defined as "something that makes plain or clear; an indication or sign." In short, evidence is what points to the truth.

We read yesterday about some of the evidence that Rahab had seen in the lives of the Israelites; evidence that caused her to put her faith in God. But take a moment to think about your own story. What evidence have you seen of God's hand around you? Look objectively at the evidence around you, and reflect on the truth - God's truth - that it is pointing you to.

Pray

Ask God to reveal His evidence in your life. Ask for eyes to see what He wants you to see so that you, like Rahab, can experience what He wants you to experience.

Act

Yesterday you put a red cord around your wrist. Today, when you see that cord, think of a specific story or situation that God has allowed you to go through. And thank God for the evidence He has placed in your life!
